Nusrat killings kill eight, including Siraj

The court has sentenced the death sentence of Principal Siraj Udouloula to death in connection with the murder case of Nusrat Jahan (Rafi), a Madrasa girl discussed in Feni's Sonagazi. Judge Md. Shonan Feni's Women and Child Abuse Tribunal Tribunal said the verdict was read at 5 pm today. Mamunur Rashid.

It takes 12 minutes 5 seconds to read a verdict. The court also awarded death sentence to the seven accused in the verdict. The court praised the role of the media in the Nusrat Jahan murder case before the verdict was readout. The court said the country could know about the horrific killings because of the media.

Earlier, the accused was brought to Kathgari at 5am in the morning. Within 5 minutes, the accused was taken to Kathmandu. After hearing the verdict, the accused started screaming. Some broke into tears. Some say they will appeal in the High Court. The defendants at that time abused the plaintiff's lawyers in obscene language. Later, the lawyers were removed from the police guard.

On March 25, Siraj Uddaula, the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa, called in his room and made a mockery of Nusrat. Police arrested the Principal after his mother Shirina Akhtar filed a case with Sonagazi Police Station. On April 5, five criminals wearing a burqa burnt their hands and feet and poured kerosene on the roof of the Madrasa administrative building. On 7th April, Nusrat died while being treated at the burn and plastic surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
